Guide: Making Svartpilen 401 Tubeless

If you don’t want to worry about punctures on your Svartpilen 401, you have a couple of options.

Rim Sealant

You can have rim sealant applied to the spoked rims, leaving you with a tubeless spoked setup. This gives you the benefit of spokes without having to worry about punctures.

This process costs around Rs 12,000, including the Way2Speed sealant, and labour. It takes around 5 days, a large part of which is waiting for the sealant to cure. You’ll also need to check whether any garages in your city are offering this service.

So far people have reported having good success with this method, but there’s certainly more chance for issues. And re-applying the sealant in case of an issue, or in case your spokes need truing will add result in further time and money spent.

Vitpilen 2024 Alloy Rims

This, in my opinion, is an easier and more elegant solution. You can simply order alloy rims and have them fitted. You can complete the entire process through your KTM service center. The part numbers which must be ordered are:

52JU1672 FRONT ALLOY
52JU1673 REAR ALLOY

These are the new alloys for the 2024 Vitpilen, which are different to the old rims on the earlier generation Svartpilen and Vitpilen.

You need to place the order for the rims with your KTM service center, they should hopefully arrive in around 10 days. Then they’ll swap the existing spoked rims with the alloys. So you really shouldn’t have to do much at all.

The Tramplr XR tyres which come stock on the bike are already tubeless, so they simply need to be mounted to an alloy rim in order to work without the tube. There’s no need to change to a different tyre.

The total cost should be 15535rs with labour. The front rim is Rs 6998 and rear rim is Rs 7894. So the rim cost is Rs 14892 in total. The rest is KTM labour and fitment cost.

Note: The stock spoked rims are high-quality aluminium spoked rims which make them light, strong, and quite expensive. Much more expensive than the alloys. So keep them with you after the swap just in case.
